What We Do

Brought together by our shared commitment to serving children, the Avon Kiwanis Club is a club that is united in our goal of strengthening our community and enhancing the well-being of our youth. As an integral part of Kiwanis International, a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world – one community and one child at a time.

We believe in serving our community and ensuring that all kids have a bright future. “Kids need Kiwanis” is the motto that drives us in all we do. Our members provide time, talent, and treasure to ensure kids of any age receive the resources and the necessities to set them up for a life-time of success. Our continuum of impact includes health and nutrition, education and literacy, and youth leadership development.

What we know:

  • Twenty five percent of the 44,000 children living in Hendricks County receive free or reduced fee lunch.
  • Nationally, 1 out of every 3 fourth graders aren’t proficient at reading and are at risk of falling behind.
  • Nationally, 1 out of every 3 low-income families do not own a book for their children.
  • Youth who are involved in leadership and volunteering are more likely to go to college and report being happier.

Join us in our mission of serving the children of our community, state, and world.

KIWANIS INDIANA DISTRICT

Our commitment as a club in the Indiana District includes partnering to support the Riley Children’s Hospital Foundation. Indiana Kiwanians have committed to raising $1,000,000 over the next four years to establish Accessible Mental Health Services for Kids and Teens in Indiana.
The Indiana District of Kiwanis is joining Riley Children’s Health to take on the alarming rates of youth suicide, depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions devastating our state’s children and teens. By donating and fundraising, you can help stem the tide of youth suicides and provide children the support they need to be successful in school, enjoy their childhood, and gain skills to thrive as adults.
